Estimates & pricing
How much does land clearing cost?
Price depends on lot size, vegetation density, trees and stumps, rock, access and how much has to be hauled away. Our Clear & Haul bundle starts at $X,XXX, Clear & Grade at $X,XXX and Full Site Prep at $X,XXX. Your exact price comes from a free on-site estimate.
Is the estimate free?
Yes. We walk the property, talk through the job with you, and give you a written quote with no obligation.
Do I need to be there for the estimate?
It helps, especially so we can agree on what stays and what goes. For vacant lots, we can also walk it on our own and review it with you by phone.
Is haul-off included?
Yes. Haul-off and disposal are included in our quotes unless you ask us to leave mulch, wood or fill on site.
Clearing, weeds & trees
I received a weed or litter notice. What should I do?
Read the notice for the deadline and what it requires, then contact us. We can usually schedule a lot cleanup quickly and can send before-and-after photos. We can't give legal advice about a notice or guarantee how the agency will respond, so contact the issuing office with questions about the notice itself.
Can you remove Siberian elm, salt cedar and Russian olive?
Yes. These invasive trees are common around Albuquerque and often re-sprout from the stump and roots, so we remove the stump or discuss ways to prevent regrowth.
Should I grind or pull a stump?
Grinding is faster and fine for lawns and landscaping. Pulling removes the stump and main roots, which is better if you are building, grading or trenching in that spot.
What is forestry mulching?
A mulching head grinds brush and small trees in place, leaving a layer of mulch that helps protect the soil. It is a good fit for acreage, trails and fire breaks.
Do you do defensible space clearing?
Yes, especially in the East Mountains, Placitas and other wooded areas. We thin brush and trees, limb up branches and clear around structures, following guidance from fire and forestry agencies where you have it.
Excavation & grading
What is caliche, and can you dig through it?
Caliche is a hard layer of soil cemented by calcium carbonate that is common in the Southwest. We break through it with rippers and hydraulic hammers and haul it away or reuse it on site.
Can you fix a yard that floods during monsoon storms?
Usually. Re-grading so water flows away from structures is the first step, often combined with swales, French drains or rock-lined channels.
Do you build building pads?
Yes. We clear, cut and fill, and compact building pads for homes, garages, casitas and shops, working from your builder's or engineer's plans and staking.
Do you install the utility lines in the trench?
We dig and backfill. Lines are typically installed by your licensed plumber, electrician or gas installer, and many must be inspected before backfill.
Permits, rules & safety
Do you call 811 before digging?
Yes. We submit a New Mexico 811 locate request before every excavation and trenching job so underground utilities are marked first. Locates take a few working days, so we build that into the schedule.
Do I need a dust permit?
Some clearing and grading projects in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County need a fugitive dust control permit from the local air quality program. It depends on the size and type of the project, so we help you check what yours needs before work begins.
What about stormwater permits?
Larger disturbed sites may need coverage under the federal NPDES Construction General Permit. We check this with you during planning for bigger projects.
Will grading affect my neighbors?
It shouldn't. Grading must not push stormwater onto neighboring properties, and lots next to arroyos may have extra rules. We plan grading with that in mind and will tell you if we think you need an engineered plan.
Are you licensed and insured?
NM License #000000. Insurance: [Insurance details — PLACEHOLDER]. Ask us for a copy of our certificate of insurance with your quote.
