Tree & stump removal, including stump grinding

Invasive elms taking over the yard, dead trees near the house, or old stumps in the way of a new project? We take them down, grind or pull the stumps, and clean up after ourselves.

What to expect

Some of the most common trees on Albuquerque properties are invasive: Siberian elm, salt cedar (tamarisk) and Russian olive. They spread aggressively, drop seeds and suckers everywhere, and re-sprout from the stump if they are simply cut down.

We remove trees in sections when space is tight, then either grind the stump below grade or pull the stump and root ball with an excavator when you need the ground clear for building or grading.

Invasive trees in the Middle Rio Grande

Siberian elm, salt cedar and Russian olive are widespread along the Rio Grande valley and in older neighborhoods. Because they re-sprout from roots and stumps, removing the stump (or treating it) matters as much as cutting the tree.

Trees near power lines are a different job. If a tree is close to overhead lines, contact your electric utility first — utility line clearance is handled by qualified line-clearance crews, and we will not work in that zone.

Common questions

Should I grind or pull a stump?

Grinding is faster and leaves the roots to decay in place — fine for lawns and landscaping. Pulling removes the stump and main roots, which is better when you are building, grading or trenching in that spot.

Will the tree grow back?

Some species, especially Siberian elm and salt cedar, can re-sprout from roots. We will explain your options for preventing regrowth during the estimate.
