Forestry mulching

Forestry mulching grinds brush and small trees into mulch right where they stand — one machine, one pass, no burn piles, and a layer of mulch that helps hold the soil in place.

What to expect

A mulcher head on a tracked machine shreds vegetation and leaves it on the ground as a protective mulch layer. Because there is less hauling and no burning, mulching is often an efficient way to open up large, brushy areas.

Mulching is ideal for thinning, trails, fence lines, fire breaks and views. If you need bare dirt for building, we combine mulching with stump removal and grading instead.

Mulching on sloped and wooded land

In the East Mountains and foothills, much of the vegetation is piñon, juniper and scrub oak on rocky, sloped ground. Mulching works well here because it clears without stripping the soil, which helps limit erosion on slopes.

Some properties have HOA, county or easement rules about clearing. We will ask about these during the estimate and work within whatever limits apply to your land.

Common questions

What happens to the mulch?

It stays on the ground as a protective layer that slows erosion and breaks down over time. If you prefer, we can thin it out or haul some away.

Can you mulch large trees?

Mulching works best on brush and small to mid-size trees. Larger trees are usually cut and handled separately.
