Excavation & grading services
Grading & leveling
A properly graded lot drains the way it should, gives you a flat, usable surface, and gets your project off to a solid start. We shape the ground with the right slope — not just flat.
What to expect
Grading moves soil to create the shape you need: high spots cut down, low spots filled, and a gentle slope so water runs away from buildings. It is the foundation for pads, driveways, patios, yards, arenas and parking areas.
We use laser or string-line checks for accuracy and compact fill in lifts where it needs to support weight.

Grading and drainage rules
Grading must not push stormwater onto your neighbors. In Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, larger or more complex projects may need an approved grading and drainage plan, and lots next to arroyos may have extra requirements from the city, county or flood control authority.
We will tell you if we think your project may need a plan or permit, and we are happy to work from plans prepared by your engineer. We do not make promises about permit outcomes — those decisions belong to the agency.

Common questions
What is the difference between rough and finish grading?
Rough grading sets the overall shape and elevations. Finish grading is the final, smoother pass that prepares the surface for landscaping, gravel or concrete.
Can you fix a yard that floods?
Often, yes. Re-grading to move water away from the house is usually the first step, sometimes combined with swales or other drainage work.
