Trenching across Corrales acreage
Corrales trenches tend to be long and to cross things: a pasture, a ditch easement, a cottonwood's root zone, a horse trail. Planning the route matters as much as the digging.
Runs Corrales owners ask us to dig
Power to the barn
Conduit from the house panel or a new service out to a barn, tack room or shop, so your electrician can wire lights, fans and outlets.
Water to the paddocks
A line out to automatic waterers or stock tanks so you're not dragging hoses across the property.
Arena lighting
Conduit around the arena perimeter to light poles your electrician sets.
Septic line for a casita
A trench from a guest house to the septic system, dug to the depth and slope your installer specifies.
Irrigation from the field to the house
Pipe for yard or orchard irrigation, laid by you or your irrigation contractor.
Crossing a ditch is a separate conversation
If your line needs to cross or run next to an acequia or lateral managed by the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, that work typically needs MRGCD's permission first. We route trenches to avoid the ditch and its easement where we can, and we won't dig in either without approval.
Routing around cottonwoods and soft ground
A straight line from the house to the barn is the cheapest trench on paper. In Corrales it often runs right through the root zone of a big cottonwood, and cutting those roots can harm the tree. We'll suggest a route that bends around trees you want to keep.
Fields near the bosque and freshly irrigated pasture can be too soft for the excavator. We plan the dig for when the ground is firm, and we keep the machine on one path so we don't rut the whole field getting to the trench.

Corrales trenching questions
Can you trench across my pasture without wrecking it?
We stay on one access path and backfill and compact the trench when the line is in. The strip over the trench will need time to grow back, and we can talk about reseeding it.
Can the water and power to my barn go in one trench?
Sometimes, depending on the code requirements and what your plumber and electrician want. They set any separation, and we dig to it.
My horses are on the property. How do you handle an open trench?
We'll talk through which pens to empty during the work, and we try to keep open sections short. Plan to keep animals away from the trench until it's backfilled.
