Clearing vacant lots in Rio Rancho
You may have owned your Rio Rancho lot for years without ever seeing it. We find it, clear it and get it ready to sell or build, with a plan for the sand and wind.
Raw mesa land, cleared all at once
Many of the parcels we clear in Rio Rancho were divided into lots decades ago and never touched. Out in Rio Rancho Estates, a typical lot is open sand with chamisa, tumbleweeds stacked against whatever stopped them, and sometimes a pile of dumped trash near the road.
Owners usually call when they're ready to list the lot or start a house, so the whole parcel gets cleared in one go. That's when the mesa wind matters: once the cover is gone, sandy ground starts to move.
Clearing here is usually light work on the vegetation and careful work on the planning. Getting the access, boundaries and timing right matters more than the brush itself.
Matching the clearing to your plans for the lot
How far we go depends on what happens next.
| Your plan | What we usually do |
|---|---|
| Selling the lot | Clear brush, tumbleweeds and trash so buyers can walk the land, and leave native cover at the edges if you want it |
| Building soon | Clear the build area and access, then move into pad and driveway work when the builder's staking is ready |
| Holding a few more years | Remove trash and the worst growth, and leave some cover so the lot doesn't blow |
| Answering a city weed notice | Clear what the notice covers and send before-and-after photos |
How we clear a lot you can't get out to see
- 1
Send the address or parcel number
That's enough for us to find the lot. If you have a plat or survey, send that too.
- 2
We walk it on our own
We drive the access, look for pins and note what is there, then call you with photos.
- 3
You get a written quote
It lists what we will clear, what gets hauled off and when we can schedule.
- 4
We clear and report back
When the work is finished, you get photos so you can see the result from wherever you are.

Find your corners before the brush comes off
On older lots, survey pins are often buried in sand or gone entirely. Clearing the wrong strip is hard to undo, so if you can't point to your corners, have a surveyor mark them before we start. The City of Rio Rancho also sets its own rules, separate from Albuquerque's, so check with the city if you plan to build.
Land clearing questions in Rio Rancho
My lot is on an unpaved road. Can your equipment get there?
Most of the time. We check the road during the walk. If it's soft sand or badly rutted, we may suggest cutting a short access or turnaround first so trucks and later construction traffic can get in and out.
Will clearing make my lot blow away?
Bare sand does blow on the mesa. We avoid leaving more ground bare than your plan needs, and if you aren't building soon, partial clearing or leaving some cover can help.
Is there caliche under these lots?
Some have it, some don't. Clearing alone rarely reaches it, but if you're building, we'll tell you what we see so your pad and trenching plans account for it.
