Trenching for utility lines in Albuquerque

Running a sewer line to a new casita in the Southeast Heights and running conduit across a Westside backyard are both trenching jobs, but the dirt, the access and the old lines in the way are completely different.

Backyard runs in older neighborhoods

Much of our city trenching is behind existing homes: power out to a detached garage, a sewer lateral for a casita, a new water service where the old pipe failed. These yards have walls, mature trees, patios and decades of lines that may or may not be on any drawing.

We bring compact machines that fit through the gate, keep spoil on tarps or in one spot so your yard isn't buried, and hand dig where the trench crosses marked utilities or tree roots you want to save.

Locate first, inspect before we fill

We request a New Mexico 811 locate before every trench, and we expose marked lines by hand where required. Many utility installations in Albuquerque need to be inspected before the trench is backfilled, so we leave it open until your plumber, electrician or gas installer tells us the line has passed.

Trenches we dig for Albuquerque homes and builders

We dig and backfill. A licensed plumber, electrician or gas installer puts in the line.

  • Electrical and conduit runs to garages, shops, casitas and EV chargers
  • Water service replacements and new water lines
  • Sewer laterals for additions and casitas
  • Gas line trenches for your licensed installer
  • Irrigation and drip lines for yard renovations
  • Utility trenches for new homes on infill lots

Albuquerque trenching questions

Can you trench under a concrete walk or patio?

We can saw and break out a section, dig through, and leave it ready for your concrete contractor to patch. In some cases the installer can bore under instead; we'll talk through which makes sense for your yard.

How long does the trench stay open?

Until your installer has laid the line and any required inspection has passed. We schedule backfill with you so an open trench isn't left in the yard longer than it needs to be.

Will you put my yard back after trenching?

We backfill and compact the trench and rake out the area. Replacing sod, rock mulch or plants is usually up to you or your landscaper, and the quote spells out what's included.
