Field, fence line and brush clearing in Los Ranchos
Los Ranchos land is mostly fields, orchards and long fence lines, and they all go to weeds between irrigations. We bring them back without losing the open, tree-lined look the village is known for.
Los Ranchos ground we clear most
A hay field gone to weeds
A field that stopped being cut fills with kochia and bindweed. We mow it back so it can be irrigated and used again.
Fence lines grown shut
Weeds tangle with young Siberian elm and Russian olive along the wire until you can't walk the fence. We brush it open.
Orchard floors
Tall grass and suckers between fruit trees. We cut between rows and around trunks without hitting the trees.
Arena and paddock edges
Weeds creep in from the corners and along rails. We clear the edges and the paths in between.
Clearing without losing the open space
The village puts real value on its fields and mature trees, and so do most owners here. A weed cleanup in Los Ranchos is about taking out what's choking the land, not stripping it bare.
During the walk-through we agree on what stays. We flag trees, beds and anything else you want protected, and our crew works to that list.
What changes the work on a Los Ranchos property
Two neighboring properties can be very different jobs. Here's what moves the effort up or down.
- How big and how tall
- A one-acre field cut every year is quick. Several acres left alone for seasons takes longer and produces more to haul.
- Woody growth mixed in
- Elm and Russian olive sprouts need heavier cutting than grass and weeds.
- Irrigation timing
- Valley silt and loam stay soft after water. Machine work waits for firm ground.
- Gate width
- Narrow gates can limit us to smaller equipment or more hand work.
- Haul or leave
- Hauling everything off is more work than leaving cut grass on the field.
Planning around irrigation days
Many Los Ranchos fields are watered through MRGCD-managed acequias on a schedule. We like to cut a few days after the field dries and before the next water day, so the ground is firm and the grass you want to keep gets water soon after.
If you tell us your schedule when you call, we'll fit the visit to it.

Brush & weed removal questions in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque
Can you clear an old field so I can start irrigating it again?
Yes. We mow the weeds down and clear out woody sprouts so water can spread. If the field has humps and low spots, grading may also help and we can quote it separately.
Do I need to check with the village before brushing my fence line?
Cutting weeds and small sprouts is routine upkeep. Before taking out large trees along a fence, ask the Village of Los Ranchos whether any tree rules apply to your property.
Can cut grass and weeds stay on the field?
Yes, if you prefer. We usually recommend hauling anything that has gone to seed so it doesn't replant the field.
